  • Georeferencing Method

    Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Label provides two values of longitude. Georeferenced to the midpoint of Rio Uraricoera between the two lines of longitude provided. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located Rio Uraricoera, a tributary of Rio Branco. Used the Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure a straight line between the location of the river at 63 10 W longitude to the location of the river at 63 30 W longitude, then halved this distance to locate the midpoint of this line. Chose a point along the river nearest to the midpoint of the line; used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates, on the adjacent shore (collection assumed to be terrestrial). Used the Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) again to find the linear extent by measuring from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the segment of river. Input coordinates, linear extent (214732.0 m), and measurement error (0.5 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
