Small tree 15ñ tall, trunk diameter 6in, occasional. Growing in dry, grey-black, loamy-clay soil (Burleson clay, 1-3% slopes, thermic Udic Pellusterts) at the edge of an open grassy area and line of trees, with Asclepias viridis, Campsis radicans, Celtis laevigata, Cercis canadensis, Cnidoscolus texanus, Cynodon dactylon, Desmanthus illinoiensis, Fraxinus americana, Gleditsia tricanthos, Juniperus virginiana, Morns rubra, Paspalum sp., Q.falcata, Quercus laurifolia, Q. phellos, Q. stellata, Tragia sp. and Ulmus crassifolia. Along the N. side of U.S. Rt. 82, and just S. of a railroad, about 4.0mi E. of the intersection with
