Carya cordiformis (Wangenh.) K. Koch JUGLANDACEAE Tree 103.9ft tall, trunk diameter 3.3ft, average crown diameter 54ft, an extremely large tree for this species, probably the largest in Massachusetts and amongst the largest in the northeastern portion of its range. Growing along a fenceline between a mowed yard and a cow pasture, in moist loam over limestone or marble (Farmington-Rock outcrop complex, 15-35% slopes; loamy, mixed, active, mesic Lithic Eutrudepts), with Acer saccharum, Prunus serótina, & Quercus rubra.
To the E. side of Sheffield St., about 200ft S. of Hancock Rd., Pittsfield, Berkshire Co. Elev. about 1125ft. 42° 29' 14.5"N, 73° 15' 45.0"W; UTM 18T 642795E, 4705354N (NAD83/WGS84).
