LIEBRE MOUNTAIN: upper west end of the mountain, along Forest Service Road 7N23, ca 200 m SW of Sandberg Triangulation Point (5345-ft). Liebre Mountain 7.5' USGS Quadrangle. T7N R17W, NE/4 NE/4 NE/4 section 5. Elevation ca 5170-5190 feet.
Chaparral and low-statured woodland dominated by Quercus kelloggii, Q. chrysolepis, Scunbucus mexicana, Rhamnus tomentella cuspidata, elc\ on northwesterly slope in decomposed granite.
Arborescent spreading shrub ca 4-5 m high, locally common above and below the road; leaves green above, slightly duller beneath; acorns broad and bulbous with a small involucre, on current season's twigs; acorn shell glabrous inside.
