FAGACEAE Tree 60ft tall, trunk diameter 3ft, occasional, this species more common perhaps 0.5mi to the west with Pinus ponderosa. Leaves beginning to yellow with the season. In an open grassy area on a gentle NE-facing slope on sandy loam (Mottsville loamy coarse sand, 2 to 9 percent slopes; Mixed, mesic Torripsammentic Haploxerolls) with Artemisia tridentata, Bromus diandrus, Chrysothamnus nauseosus, Equisetum hyemale, Phacelia sp., Prunus subcordata, Rosa sp., Secale cereale and Tragopogon sp.
