In an open, dry forest in gravelly loam (Yorkville-Yorktree-Squawrock complex, 30 to 50 percent slopes; Yorkville = fine, mixed, thermic Typic Argixerolls; Yorktree = fine, mixed, mesic Ultic Argixerolls; Squawrock = loamy-skeletal, mixed, thermic Mollic Haploxeralfs). With Arbutus menziesii, Arctostaphylos sp., Pinus sabiniana, Pseudotsuga menziesii, Quercus chrysolepis, Q. kelloggii and Toxicodendron diversilobum.
