  • Georeferencing Method

    Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Unable to find the precise location of Fazenda Bom Intento; instead, georeferenced to the approximate geographic center of Igarapé Água Boa, a tributary of Rio Mucajaí, in Mun. Mucajaí, Roraima. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located Igarapé Água Boa, situated between the mouth of Rio Apiaú and the region of Pratinha along Rio Mucajaí. Used the Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure a straight line between the mouth of Igarapé Água Boa (confluence of Rio Mucajaí and Igarapé Água Boa) to the source of Igarapé Água Boa (approximated through the dense forest cover), then halved this distance to approximate the location of the midpoint of the stream. Measured to approximately this halved distance from the mouth of the stream toward the center; used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the midpoint, on the adjacent shore (collection assumed to be terrestrial). Input coordinates, linear extent (distance from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the stream, 13364.3 m), and measurement error (.5 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
