Stunted, thin forest of Pinus pseudostrobus, Quercus spp. on rocky lava flow (ca. 2000-4000 years old). Small tree 6 m. tall, 20 cm. in diameter. Leaves green above, yellow-green or greenish white below, the young leaves with tawny tomentum, this falling and leaving a glaucous surface. Coll.: M. Nee 32999 6 Sept. 1986 New York Bot.
