  • Georeferencing Method

    Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the geographic center of Rio Amazonas between the geographic center of the city of Obidos and the geographic center of the city of Santarem in Pará, Brazil. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located Rio Amazonas between the two cities. Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure a straight line between the geographic center of the shore of Obidos (along Rio Amazonas) and the geographic center of the shore of Santarem (also along Rio Amazonas); then halved this distance to approximate the midpoint of the river between the two cities. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the midpoint, along the adjacent shore on the same side of the river as Obidos. Input coordinates, linear extent (distance from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the segment, 53733.2 m.), and measurement error (.1 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
