  • Description

    Plant 2.5-3 m tall; simple unbranched flowering stem 2 cm diam., cauline bracts appressed, brown; stem covered with sticky shellac or varnish-like surface; flowers sessile, sepals rich green, appressed, 17 x 8 mm, petals white, 20 x 13 mm, obovate, subobtuse, slightly spreading; 6 anthers yellow, 3.5 x 2 mm, bilobate basally, filaments whitish, attached to the base of plant, 5 mm long; leaves at base of plant, in spreading rosette, dull green above, scurfy gray below, coriaceous, spines blackish-brown with white base. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
