Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Unable to find the precise area of "farm of Francisco Merheri;" instead, georeferenced to the farmland across Rio Maués-Açu from the city of Maués in Mun. Maués, Amazonas. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located the approximate geographic center of the city of Maués along Rio Maués-Açu. Used the Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure a straight line west-southwest across the river from the city of Maués nearby what appears to be farmland, in the region of Vera Cruz. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of this location. Because the area does not have defined spatial boundaries on Google Maps, used the Distance Measurement Tool again to find the linear extent by measuring from the selected coordinates to the nearest named place, Duas Marias, then halving this distance. Input coordinates, linear extent (1892.23 m), and measurement error (.5 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
