Slightly rolling terrain, mostly mantled by wind-blow sand but some old hilltops with rocky/gravelly surface. Creosote bush scrub with Larrea, Ambrosia, Hilaria rigida, Krameria, etc. At wash edge.

Uncommon shrub, 1-1.5 m. high. Fls deep blue-violet. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
