Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the approximate geographic center of the city of Jaru, Rondônia, taking into account the added uncertainty of the word "vicinity" used in the locality description. Using Google Map - Satellite View, located the city of Jaru. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the approximate geographic center of Jaru. Because the center of the nearest named place of similar size, Ouro Preto do Oeste, is quite far from Jaru, followed "Near a Feature" method from the Biogeomancer Guide to Best Practices for Georeferencing. Used the Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to find the linear extent of Jaru by measuring from the selected coordinates to the farthest extent of the city (boundaries provided by Google Maps, 3243.66 m), and then doubled this measurement. Input coordinates, linear extent (6487.32 m), and measurement error (0.5 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainly radius (according to Biogeomancer Guide to Best Practices for Georeferencing, Near a Feature).
