Medium dunes, moving sand and sparse vegetation: Ambrosia dumosa, Atriplex canescens, Frankenia palmeri, Hilaria rigida, Lycium brevipes, Palafoxia linearis, Sporobolus airoides. Locally common; petals deep violet (lighter color than petals of A. lentigenosus), wing petals white on upper half, pale violet on most of lower part, banner white in proximal central area and distally between violet- colored veins, thus a white "flag."
