Mexico. Jalisco. 2.5-3.5 km S of El Chante along road to Manantlán, ca. 18 km ESE of Autlan. Foothills of the Sierra de Manantlán.

Habitat
Lower slope of arid valley. Very open, grazed summergreen deciduous forest (selva baja caducifolia), now in dry season, 5-6m tall, to spiny scrub with scattered giant ceroid cacti - Acacia - Bursera - Mimosa - and occasional giant Enterolobium cyclocarpum trees.
