DISTRIB. New Zealand. (Dr. Sinclair.) (Specimens few and imperfect.)
Closely allied to *H. amblyophylla*. Leaves yellowish, much crisped and undulated when dry, more crowded,
of firmer texture; areole smaller, except at the base, near the nerve, where they are larger, lax, and pellucid; cartilaginous border wider. Perichætial leaves small, obtuse. Seta 1 inch, smooth, glossy, red, and strong. Calyptra
densely fringed at the base, roughish at the apex.—PLATE CLXXVII. Fig. 3; 1, branch and leaf; 2, leaf; 3, male
