Note: Holotype of var. Distinct by axis corticated, and spines in fascicles of 1-3 spines. First detected as unique by me in 1955. Given to Dr. Imahori to study. He detected fascicled spines and suggested the name and status. We agree.Lychnothamnus barbatus (Meyen) Leonh. det G. O. Allen, s.d.
