                                                    HabitatGrowing in some sun at the edge of a trail in a forest and shrubby thicket on a steep northwest-facing slope, in sandy/gravelly loam (Totem sandy loam, 30-60% slopes; medial over pumiceous or cindery, amorphic over glassy Andic Haplocryods). With Abies amabilis, Abies grandis, Acer glabrum var. douglasii, Achillea millefolium, Alnus viridis subsp. sinuata, Anaphalis margaritacea, Aruncus dioicus, Carex macloviana, Carex mertensii, Carex peckii, Ceanothus velutinus var. velutinus, Claytonia sibirica, Clintonia uniflora, Dactylis glomerata, Dicentra formosa subsp. formosa, Galium sp., Heracleum maximum, Hydrophyllum fendleri, Olopanax horridus, Paxistima myrsinites, Picea engelmannii, Pinus monticola, Pinus ponderosa, Planathera unalascensis, Pseudotsuga menziesoo, Pteridium aquilinum, Rosa acicularis (?), Rubus parviflorus var parviflorus, Rumex acetosella, Smilacina racemosa, Sorbus sitchensis, Streptopus sp., Taraxacum officinale, Thalictrum occidentale, Tsuga heterophylla, Vaccinium membranaxeum, Veronica sp, and Viola sp. Locally common.
