  • Habitat

    Weedy, unshaded area around commercial buildings. With Monarda citriodora, Pyrrhopappus multicaulis, Ratibida columnifera, Gaillardia pulchella, Solanum elaeagnifolium. Several discrete patches of spaced plants. Gravelly.

  • Description

    Perennial from underground organ (not collected). Flowers with very lightly fragrant (8:00 A.M., sunny); corolla light violet; anthers yellow, separate. The appearance of the colony, the plants themselves and the presentation of the flowers very reminiscent of its close relatives in Argentina/Bolivia area, e.g. S. aridum. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
