Habitat
Subalpine zone: Populus tremuloides stand with grassy understory on dry hillside. Soil of loose dirt and gravel. Open roadbank, with A. alpinus, Castilleja septentrionalis, etc.

Description
Infl. almost tricolorous, petals white at base, the keel and standard blue-violet (red-violet when young) toward tips. Phenology of specimen: Fruit, Flower.
