Habitat
Semi deciduous forest in uplands, evergreen forest in canyons and wet areas; deciduous forest on exposed bluffs; pasture and orchards on central flat; mangroves at Río Curú mounth.

A scarce spawling shrub 2-3 m. tall; pods green, opened quickly in the press to reveal a red aril surrounding black seeds. No plants of this species now flowering;. Phenology of specimen: Flower, Fruit.
