Ecuador. Azuay. Cuenca (Canton). Manta Real. At western base of Andes, 20 km SE of La Troncal. On lower slopes, just above the village.

Habitat
Primary forest remnant trees in cocoa plantation. Tropical Wet Forest.

Description
Canopy tree, 25 m tall, 50 cm diameter. Bark light brown, mottled, peeling in 1 cm diameter flakes, revealing darker blotches. Slash reddish, no detectable odor. Crown dense, oval. Infloresences ramiflorous, borne on horizontal branches, up to 2 m long, pendent. Bracteoles green.Calyx reddish to pale rose, mottled. Corolla cream. Flowers without detectable odor in afternoon; probably bat-pollinated. Phenology of specimen: Fertile.
