  • Georeferencing Method

    Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to approximately 1.5 km (midpoint of the offset range) west along Abuña-Rio Branco road, BR-364, from the western shore of Rio Madeira. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located the road which connects Abuña, Rondônia to Rio Branco, Acre, BR-364. BR-364 is intersected by Rio Madeira along the route from the geographic center of Abuña toward Rio Branco. Beginning at the location where BR-364 meets the western shore of Rio Madeira, used the Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure approximately 1.5 km (1.50031 km) toward Rio Branco (westward). Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the offset along the road. Used the Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) again to find the linear extent of the starting location, the area which may be considered the "start" of the road on the west shore of Rio Madeira, by measuring from the starting coordinates to the farthest extent that may be considered the "start" of the road. Input coordinates, linear extent (0.0005 km), measurement error (0.280486 km), and distance precision (1 km) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius. Added half of the offset range (1.5 km) to the uncertainty radius to account for the added uncertainty of the offset provided in a range format.
