    Hypoxylon rickii Y.M.Ju & J.D.Rogers det M. Stadler, Jun 2005
Note: As Hypoxylon rubiginosum Pers. . . . Annot. by J.H. Miller: "= H. jecorinum B.& R., 'Good'" . . . Annot by Stadler: " . . . agrees with the type of H. rubiginosum var. rickii ined.; treated as H. rickii in Ju & Rogers, despite the name was not yet used in the annotation by Ju. HPLC reveals H. fragiforme chemotype with small amounts of orsellinic acid and mitorubrinol and mitorubrin as prevailing component. Asco spore morphology and HPLC profile indeed agrees with the type of H. rickii; which can only be distinguished from H. jecorinum ss. Ju & Rogers (1996) by ascospore size range and anamorphic characters but not by HPLC."

Hypoxylon jecorinum Berk. & Ravenel det J. H. Miller
Note: Annot. by Yu-Ming Ju (22 May 1991): "This is probably a biotype of H. jecorinum B.& R. having smaller ascospores, larger perithecia and orange-brown surface. It fits H. rubiginosum var. rickii Bres., an unpublished name used in herbarium."

Hypoxylon rubiginosum var. rickii Bres. [ined.] det Y. M. Ju, 22 May 1991

    Hypoxylon rubiginosum (Pers.:Fr.) Fr.
