    Large deciduous tree, 7-20 m high, bark deep vertical and horizontal fissures. Leaves on spine-like lateral shoots, grey-green above, much paler below, visible silvery scales. Flowers small creamy-yellow on spikes. Phenology of specimen: Fertile.
