    Old cacau plantation last harvested 1970, with 60-70% original forest canopy retained. Trees 25-30 m. high.

  • Description

    LArge plant, rhizome climbing to 87 cm. on a 3 m. tall sapling (2 cm. diam.) from a base with many black roots in a basal 20 cm. ramifying into deep leaf litter and humus rich soil. Rhizomes olive-green (rachis ditto), with a lime green lateral line. Lamina adaxially dark green and slightly glossy, abaxially olive green with a slight sheen. Juveniles at 10 cm. above ground level, on 1 m. tall, 1.5 cm. diam. sapling. Phenology of specimen: Flower.

Large plant, rhizome climbing to 87cm on a 3m tall sapling
(2 cm diam.) from a base with many black roots in basal 20 cm,
ramifying into deep leaf litter and humus rich soil. Rhizomes
olive-green throughout. Stipes dull brown-tinged olive-green
(rachis ditto), with a lime green lateral line. Lamina adaxially
dark green and slightly glossy, abaxially olive green with a
| slight sheen.
