Habitat
In rocky (Chinle and Wingate Formations) soil on west-facing slope with Pinus, Juniperus, Coleogyne and Artemisia.

Description
Perennials from ± branched caudices; leaves and lower stems with dendritic trichomes; upper stems and pedicels sparsely pubescent to glabrescent; petals purple, to 11 mm long; mature pedicels at right angles to rachis; fruits arcuate, pendulous, hoary-pubescent distally, ± glabrous proximally; pollen mostly malformed and abortive; seeds biseriate. Phenology of specimen: Fruit, Flower.
