Hysterium nova-caesariense Ellis
Note: Annot. by M.L. Lohman (2 Nov 1953): "The 'No. 5' of the Gerard collection is my choice of type (lectotype) for Hysterium nova-caesariense Ellis (Bull. Torr. Bot. Club 6: 133. 1877). One cannot conclude with certainty that this and 'Pinus inops' specimens as de Thümen's 1354 or Roumeguere's 4854 are portions of the original. The same holds for 'Pinus rigida' specimens on Ellis 152 of NAF and Rehm 313. Rehm 313 and the first description published by Ellis are concurrent -- but lack of dates of collection and numbers as to material studied and communicted by Ellis leaves on with this obligation. One concludes that Ellis decided (or agreed) that all specimens came from Pinus rigida unless the point is an oversight in N.A. Pyren. p. 702." -
