  • Habitat

    Precambrian granodiorite. In open gently sloping meadow west of road above outhouse; bounded upslope by pinus ponderosa, Quercus gambellii, Abies concolor; with common associates Symphoricarpos rotundifolius, Carex foenea, Thermopsis divaricarpa, Hesperostipa comata, Poa tracyi, Erigeron flagellaris, Geranium caespitosum, Artemisia frigida, penstemon virgatus. Very common locally.

  • Description

    A picture of the flowers and plant in situ are found on the specimen sheet. Plants forming large loosely matted clumps from stout rhizome-like roots; flowers blue to purplish; anthers blue, glabrous, dehiscing fully and across connective but not explanate. Leaf tissue taken for DNA analysis. Phenology of specimen: Flower, Fruit.
