    Dominican Republic. Pedernales. Sierra de Bahoruco National Park, accessed north of Cabo Rojo on old Alcoa road to Aceitillar; then N on Sendero Bahoruco (jeep trail to Puerto Escondido; access gate near park guardhouse, Caseta #4) toward Caseta #2 (another park guardhouse ca. 15-20 km N).

  • Habitat

    This species occurs in pinelands (as this collection) but also grows in cloud forest patches. Moist, high elevation forest of Pinus occidentalis with scattered cloud forest associates; with Garrya fadyenii, Arthrostylidium, Myrsine coriacea, Cestrum spp., Fuchsia triphylla, Metastelma, Buddleja domingensis, Miconia lanceolata, M. fuertesii, Daphnopsis crassifolia, Turpinia picardae. Occasional.

  • Description

    Shrub to 4.5 m tall; shade growing sucker shoots have much larger leaves. Fruits immature, green with red tinge. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
