    Dominican Republic. La Vega. (near boundary with Monseñor Nouel province): Cordillera Central, ca. 16.6 km E of El Rio on Highway 12 (toward Autopista Duarte, N of Bonao); crest of mountain at Alto Casabito, near eastern entrance into the Ebano Verde Scientific Reserve.

  • Habitat

    Degraded (from hurricanes?) forest and rocky slopes. With Sagraea oligantha, Mecranium puberulum, Lyonia buchii, Miconia tetrastoma, M. dodecandra, Clidemia umbellata, Tetrazygia crotonifolia, Baccharis myrsinites, Lobelia rotundifolia, Rhynchospora spp., Gleicheniaceae spp., Lycopodium cernuum, Agalinis, Didymopanax tremulus, Sisyrinchium, Huperzia cf. reflexum, Sauvagesia erecta, Polygala paniculata, Paspalum urvillei, Pterolepis glomerata. Common.

    Shrub to 2 m tall; young fruits greenish; also with flower buds. Phenology of specimen: Fertile.
