Cloud forest with Didymopanax, Brunellia, Cyrilla, Alsophila, Cyathea, Mecranium, Baccharis, Psychotria, Lobelia, and Arthrostylidium. Occasional to locally common.

Shrub or small tree to ca. 4.5 m tall. Phenology of specimen: Fertile.
