Ecuador. Napo. From Tena to Jatun Sacha before Ishpingo Botanical Garden, near Jatun Sacha Biological Station.

Habitat
Tropical wet forest, disturbed. Because of its narrow crown this species is left in pastures and open areas. Infrequent.

Description
Tree 14 m tall, 33 cm dbh. Unbuttressed, trunk straight, branched, crown narrow. Inflorescences ramiflorous, bearing up to 8 flowers each; pedicels 5-8 cm. Corolla rose-red, fragant, outer petals ovate-lanceolate, to 6.7 x 4 cm; filaments fused ca. 5 mm. Fruit to 8 x 6 cm. Leaves with ca. 33-36 pairs of lateral nerves. Wood of low quality, stinky. Juveniles not seen. Phenology of specimen: Flower and Fruit.
