  Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Through personal communication with another collector familiar with the region (PhD. W.W. Thomas, NYBG) it was determined that most of the stretch of road referenced in this locality must be the unnamed, major dirt road which departs from the town of Olivença (-14.9512531 -39.0121078) heading SW and then W through a maze of distinctly smaller fazenda roads before meeting up with BA 668 which heads north for the remaining short distance to the town of Buerarema. Therefore, georeferenced to 43 km along this unnamed road and BA 668 from the center of Olivença in the direction of Buerarema. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located Olivença, Buerarema and the major (unnamed) dirt road which connects the two towns, hereby known as "Estrada Olivença-Buerarema". Beginning at the point along "Estrada Olivença-Buerarema" closest to the approximate geographic center of the town of Olivença (-14.9484751 -39.0115714), used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps), to measure ca. 38.76 km W along "Estrada Olivença-Buerarema" and then ca. 4.24 km NW along BA 668 for a total distance of approximately 43 km (43.0002 km) towards the town of Buerarema (it was often easier to distinguish "Estrada Olivença-Buerarema" from the distinctly smaller fazenda roads branching off it when "labels" are turned OFF in Google Maps - Satellite view). Using Distance Measurement Tool again, found the linear extent of the starting location of the offset, the town of Olivença, by measuring from the selected starting coordinates along "Estrada Olivença-Buerarema" to the farthest extent of the town (-14.9534403 -39.0081757). Input coordinates, linear extent (0.662793 km), distance precision (1 km), and measurement error (0.0005 km) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to the Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Offset: offset along a path).
