Along edge of Atlantic forest. Culms to 2 cm diam., to 8 (-
10) m long, arching and hanging. Internodes to 60 cm long,
pubescent when young, becoming scabrous, mottled above culm
leaves. Culm leaves abaxially pubescent; sheath with
prominent white, flat, straight fimbriae to 3 cm long at apex
and 1/3-1/2 of the way down the overlapping margin; blade
reflexed, 1/3-1/2 as long as the sheath, purplish. Fimbriae
prominent on apices of foliage leaf sheaths also.
