Patch of Atlantic forest that showed signs of cutting. Culms to 2.5 cm diam., to 7-8 m tall, erect at base, arching and scandent above. Internodes 28, 38, 42 cm long, retrorsely scabrid, mottled green and dark green, with a band of white hairs 2-3 mm wide just below each node. Culm leaves abaxially glabrous, striate; blade reflexed, about 1/4-1/3 as long as the sheath, caducous when culm leaf begins to dry out, sheaths also eventually falling.
