Sao Paulo: Mun. Biritiba Mirim, Estagao Biologica Boraceia, along trail ascending the
ridge into the forest behind the station, 800 m. 45°58'W, 23°36'S.
In secondary Atlantic forest, occasional. Culms erect at base, arching and clambering
above, to 1.5-2 cm in diameter, to 6-7 m long. Internodes pubescent-hispid when young,
the hairs persistent. Culm leaves not reaching the next node, the blade reflexed,
caducous, 1/3-1/2 the sheath length; fimbriae of the sheath white, flat, prominent,
continuing down the overlapping margin. Secondary branches thick, rebranching from
the base.
