S&o Paulo: Rodovia Castelo Branco, SP-280, Km 65 from SSo Paulo, 850 m. ca. 47°19'W, 23°24'S. In capoeira (secondary shrubby vegetation) along highway. Culms to 2.5 cm diam., to 4-5 m tall, erect at base and arching above. All vegetative. Internodes 26, 31, 35 cm long, with soft white hairs just above and below nodes, otherwise green. Culm leaves not surpassing the next node, basal ones falling as branches develop; blades reflexed, caducous. 28 January 1990 L. Clark & P. Windisch 639 00915477
