Abundant in forest, dominant plant under the canopy, up to 15 m
tall. Growing in small clumps, branches overarching and hanging
over vegetation. Culms hollow, up to 3 cm in diameter, scabrous,
culm sheaths deciduous with reflexed, deciduous blade. Many
branches per node.
