Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the geographic midpoint of the shore of Rio Negro between the city of San Carlos de Río Negro and the mouth of Rio Casiquiare in Mun. Río Negro, Amazonas, Venezuela. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located Rio Negro between the city of San Carlos de Río Negro and the mouth of Rio Casiquiare (confluence of Rio Casiquiare and Rio Negro). Used the Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure a straight line between the two sites along Rio Negro then halved this distance to find the midpoint of the line. Chose a point along the shore of Rio Negro nearest to the midpoint of the line; used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates (collection assumed to be terrestrial). Input coordinates, linear extent (5496.41 m), and measurement error (0.5 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Named Place: River, stream, road, path).
