Location Notes
Typed note with specimen reads, "According to C. Mueller (Synynopsis Muscorum 1:214) this material is from Colombia. Province Merida is however now the southwestern province of Venezuela with the capital city of Merida. C. Mueller calls it Polytrichum semipellucidum Hampe. Mitten (Jour. Proc. Linn. Soc. Botany 12: 617, 1869) calls it Pogonatum semipellucidum, which I believe correct since I can find no stomates.". A separate note reads, "Merida, the capital of Prov. Merida, Venezuela, is about Lat. 8° 36' N. Long. 71° 5' W."
