    Puerto Rico. Cordillera Central; Cerro La Torrecilla, northwest of Barranquitas, on Rt. 156 then north on Rt. 770, ca. 1.5 mi, then hiking up mountains (just to east of rd.); peak with radio towers visible from road; "the peak #2," the lower peak.

  • Habitat

    Moist montane forest; fragmented due to agriculture; forest limited to peak itself. Prestoea montana conspicuous; with Tetrazygia urbanii, Mecranium latifolium, Heterotrichum (=Clidemia) cymosum, Miconia subcompressa.

    Tree or shrub to ca. 7 m tall. Phenology of specimen: Fertile.
