Habitat
Dwarf moist montane forest surrounded by clouds-fog, much storm damage visible. With Tetrazygia urbanii, Miconia pachyphylla, M. Pyconeura, M. racemosa, M. sintenisii, M. foveolata, Mecranium latifolium, Henriettea squamulosa, Nepsera aquatica.

Uncommon shrub to 1.5 m tall; fruits immature, reddish; branches rigidly ascending. Phenology of specimen: Fertile.
