    Filaments bright green, tufted, rigid, up to 5 cm. high; upper coenocytes at first cylindrical, becoming ventricose, 500-800 mic. in diameter, varying in length from a little shorter to two times longer than board; basal coenocyte 4-8, sometimes 10 mic. long, 150-250 mic. broad at base; zoogonidia averaging about 8-10 mic.

Chaetomorphopsis H. L. Lyon. A new genus of Cladophoraceae.

Plants gregarious, filamentous ; upper coenocytes subcylindrical or ventri
cose; basal coenocyte greatly elongated, tapering downwards, sending
out from its lower portion branched, siphoneous rhizoids filled with
green endochrome; new filaments developing from buds which arise
upon the rhizoids ; membrane lamellate; reproduction by ovoid zoogo-
nidia with four cilia, escaping through several circular openings in
membrane of gonidangial coenocyte.

Plants resembling Chætomorpha and Urospora.
