    John Goldie mentioned he went to North America, in June, 1817, leaving port of Leith, Scotland, and landed at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, Then went on to Quebec, to Montreal (where he met Pursh, of North American Flora authorship), then on to Albany, NY, down Hudson to NY City, e. New Jersey (Quakers' Bridge), Philadephia, then on ship back to New York (to get a ship back to Scotland, but didn't leave yet), up Mohawk River, Montreal (April 1818, Pursh no longer at Montreal), Ottawa or Grand River, Montreal, headed south (June 1818), to Kingston, then to New York, then Lake Simcoe (Ontario prov.), Niagara Falls, Fort Erie, by land along E shore of Lake Erie to Pittsburg, Allehany River to oint Ollean, tp salt works at Onondago, to Lake Ontario, on to Montreal, which then got a ship to Greencock, Scotland.
