 1924–2010
 H.
 David Hammond died of a stroke on
 Friday, November 26, 2010, at the age
 of 86 in Rochester, New York. David completed his undergraduate work at Rutgers
 University and later received his Ph.D. in
 Botany from the University of Pennsylvania
 in 1952. He subsequently taught Botany for
 many years at Howard University and, later,
 SUNY Brockport. David worked as an editor
 at the New York Botanical Garden before retiring and
 relocating to Flagstaff in 1993. David was a steadfast
 volunteer curator at the Deaver Herbarium at Northern
 Arizona University for the past seventeen years where he
 influenced and mentored many students.
 David had a life-long commitment to education and social justice. He had relocated back
 to Rochester last July. He was a southwest
 regional reviewer for FNA for many years.
