Biography
Cistercian priest from Neutitschein in former Austria (Nový Jicèn, Czech Republic) who travelled to Mexico with Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian as a scientist. Bilimek was given the task of founding the natural history collection of the Imperial Mexican Museum and appointed its first Director. Both the Emporer and Empress Charlotte collected natural history material for the museum and Bilimek made the first study of the fauna of the Cacahuamilpa caves in Mexico.
