  Planta acuática con tabiques transversales equidistantes en el tallo hueco que crece en colonias densas. Se ha usado para hacer asientos de muebles rústicos y canapés. Tiene su hábitat a orillas de ríos, pantanos y ciénagas en Puerto Rico. Está distribuida en los trópicos y subtrópicos del Mundo. Aquatic plant with equidistant cross-sectional partitions in the hollow stem that grows along river borders, in marshes, and bogs in Puerto Rico. It is distributed in the Tropics and Subtropics of the World.
