  Cacto de 10 a 15 pies de alto de tronco espinoso redondeado carnoso de 4 a 6 pulgadas de diámetro, flores anaranjadas, rojas o amarillas y frutos rojos carnosos espinosos. Crece espontáneo en zonas áridas del suroeste, sur y noreste de Puerto Rico y las Islas de Mona, Icacos, Culebra, Vieques y las Antillas Menores. Se considera una planta indeseable. Cactus from ten to fifteen feet of height, fleshy thorny trunk of four to six inches of diameter; orange, red or yellow flowers; and red fleshy thorny fruits. It grows wild in the barren zones of the Southwest, South, and Northeast of Puerto Rico and the Islands of Mona, Icacos, Culebra, Vieques and the Lesser Antilles. It is considered an undesirable plant.
