Upland forested hill-country, 70—120 m, known only from the basins of the Araguari and Oiapoque rivers in n.-e. Amapa, Brazil and adjoining French Guiana.—Fl. IX-XII.
Notably different from var. guianensis in the small flower and included long stamens.
